Newcastle Knights Finally End Their Losing Streak With A 10-Point Win Over Bulldogs

The Newcastle Knights have overcome a seven-game losing streak with a determined 16-6 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.

The Knights started the game off strong by having great defence and keeping the Bulldogs from scoring many tries.

The victory moves the Knights off the bottom of the table and brings their season total to three victories.

The two teams were revved up to start the match, running out to fireworks and a large crowd to kick off Magic Round.

The Knights got off to a fast start, scoring a penalty goal in the sixth minute to take the lead.

Newcastle would score the opening try as well, with Edrick Lee scoring his first four-pointer since 2020.

14 minutes into the game, Kalyn Ponga struck the short side and blasted a pass to Bradman Best, who fought his arm free to find the winger in the corner.

With the game still in the balance, an unmarked Leo Thompson appeared to score the third try, but he dropped the ball over the line.

Pasami Saulo got on the end of a kick in the in-goal, but lost the ball on put down, and the Knights had another attempt overturned.

Dom Young had a brilliant defensive effort late in the game, tackling a leaping Addo-Carr over the sideline.

Adam Clune came up when Newcastle needed a decisive third try, jinking through the line and scoring untouched under the sticks in front of the Newcastle fan bay.
